The history of our wind orchestra was the “pioneer band.” The director of that band was József Fehérvári. In 1989 József Bogáthy became the master and from 1992 the seat of the band was in the Music school. In 1996 the band got the new name, Junior Wind Orchestra of Ferenc Liszt Music School.

Since 2005 Robert Papócsi became the director of the band because it was newly established under the name, Wind Orchestra of Kaposvár.


Since 2007 the leader of our band is, András Major, who is the second bandmaster of the National Defense Band.

In 2008, a new band was established similar to the second, Trombitavirág/Trumpetflower. The band’s director is, Virág Horváth.

Our objective is to play music together. However, the main task is to get closer through music; to be more tolerant to each other, and of course meet the audience’s expectations.

Of late, we regularly play at festivals, parties, various organizations in Kaposvár/Somogy county and other places in Hungary at a level up from the standards of our hometown.
Thanks to our bandmaster and members we assume a lot of performances. The band is enthusiastic and hard-working, and our repertoire is not only for villagers but also for concerts or amusing vespers. The band members like to play and practice together. The rehearsals and preparations are necessary to keep the band harmonious.

In 2007 our band became the member of WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles. The aim was to become member of the Hungarian and national life.
Since the founding of the band, we took part in a B-rated record competition, where we scored 98 points out of a possible 100. This score means that we achieved gold status qualification as of June 2, 2007.
